Beau |
Beau, age 11, was diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis in November of
2004. In May, he also tested positive for an underlying disease of
generalized scleroderma. He loves to play football, golf, baseball, and
fishing with his dad. His other hobbies are collecting football cards and
reading.
The hardest part of the disease is the constant drawing of blood, getting
monthly infusions and not being able to play rough with his friends. We
have traveled back east to the Mayo in Rochester to see Dr. Reed, who stays
in constant communication with our Dr. and us. We also attended the
myositis conference in LA.
His medication consists of plaquenil, prednisone, methotrexate, and monthly
IVIG's. He is feeling much better now! He aspires to be a professional
football player one day and wants to meet Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers.
Beau has a sister, Alex age 7, who wants to be a doctor one day. Maybe she
will find a cure!
