Racing to Find a Cure
We are excited to announce that Cure JM Foundation will be holding a Regional Conference and Fundraising Event for JM Young Adults and our JM Families on September 11-12, 2010 in conjunction with the Chicago Half Marathon & 5K.
EVENTS:
The weekend in Chicago will offer great opportunities for JM families to learn more about the disease, get to know other JM families and young adults with JM, and for the JM Young Adults to mentor the JM kids:
- Saturday afternoon September 11, an educational forum featuring Dr Lauren Pachman from Children’s Memorial Hospital, talking about JM research developments and treatments to be held at the Children’s Memorial Research Center in Chicago, IL including a tour of the facility for those over the age of 16
Due to limited space, we ask this event be kept to JM Patients & Families only
- A dinner will be held for all attendees on Saturday evening
- The Chicago Half Marathon & 5K, featuring many Cure JM runners and volunteers takes place on Sunday September 12

NEEDED -- RUNNERS:
We need 50+ runners participating on our Cure JM team for the Chicago Half Marathon & 5K. Please share this information with any friends, family, co-workers, doctors, nurses or others you think would be interested in running. Interested runners should REGISTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE by going to www.chicagohalfmarathon.com. (Make sure to indicate Cure JM Foundation as your charity by entering CHMJMF10 in the Coupon Code field at the end of the registration) After completing this registration, DON’T FORGET to create your fundraising page by going to www.firstgiving.com/curejm.
NEEDED -- VOLUNTEERS:
Whether you want to join us in Chicago or want to be a fundraising “virtual volunteer,” you must register at www.firstgiving.com/curejm. The more people who can be in Chicago for the events, the better. We will have an official cheering section on race day to support the Cure JM Team. There will also be an official aid station, interested volunteers please email Myah Stuemke (myah.stuemke@curejm.com) your name, age and contact information. Must be 14 years of age to volunteer.
We want this upcoming event to be the biggest ever! We have exciting research requests from our JM doctors awaiting financial support; all we lack is funding. PLEASE GET INVOLVED WITH THIS EFFORT TO HELP BRING US MILES CLOSER TO A CURE!
