When her son, Parker (then age 4), was diagnosed with JM in the Fall of 2002, Shari actively began learning as much as she could about the disease and reaching out to other parents of JM children. More recently she helped establish the Cure JM Foundation. She has also been driving a San Diego-based campaign to gain awareness for JM, resulting in several local newspaper and radio stories. Now her sights are set on gaining national coverage and awareness for JM and the Foundation.

Shari is the mother of 3 boys: Connor (now age 10), Parker (age 8) and Cole (age 5). She is also married to Tom Hume, another Cure JM Foundation board member. With the whole family’s help, Shari has effectively initiated many grassroots fundraising activities.
