Jim Kilpatrick

A long-time advocate of children with JDM, Jim Kilpatrick has joined the Cure JM Foundations Advisory Council.

Jim is widely known in the Myositis Community for his Myositis Support Group website with registered patrons from 36 countries. His site provides support to adults and children suffering from the various forms of myositis. He founded and led two very large myositis support groups for nine years. He published the first myositis five-star rating book written by a layman entitled, Coping with a Myositis Disease. The book contains real-life stories from patients suffering from this condition. He publishes a monthly newsletter for individuals and medical training centers.

Jim has over 45 years of experience in non-profit organizations as Comptroller, managing finances, fundraising, grant writing and personnel, and he has also served on seven Boards of Directors. His volunteer experience includes 13 years of certified hospice counseling for AIDS patients.

His educational background includes a BBA in Accounting and Business Administration, an MBA in Business Law and Marketing, a PhD in Music through the University of Cincinnati and Conservatory of Music. He also has a PhD in Psychology from the University of Louisiana.

Jim has received numerous awards for his volunteerism and musical talents on recordings, radio and television. He received an invitation to dinner with President George W. Bush at the White House for Texans who have excelled. He speaks to civic clubs and is involved in civic and social commitments.

Jim has had Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM) since 1991 and inspires us all with the work he has already done, his ongoing dedication to help those suffering with a myositis disease, and his hope to find a cure.
