Denise joined the Board of Directors of Cure JM Foundation in June 2010. Prior to her current role as CFO, she has been actively involved since 2006 in fundraising and raising awareness of Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JM) and has attended Cure JM's annual national educational and fundraising events held in different cities across the United States.
She is a certified public accountant in the State of Connecticut and a partner at Walter J. McKeever & Company, LLC in Greenwich, Connecticut. Denise started at the firm in 1990 as a senior accountant and became partner in 1995. Prior to joining the firm, she was a senior auditor at Ernst & Young in Hartford. She received her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut. Denise also serves on the Board of Directors of First County Bank, a full service mutual, community bank based in Stamford, Connecticut that enjoys the good will and respect of the community in which it exists.
Denise has extensive experience with nonprofits in both her professional career and personal involvement. In addition to her volunteer efforts with several organizations, she co-founded Challenged People In Motion, Inc. in 2002 and also serves as their treasurer. This local based nonprofit organization provides physically, mentally, behaviorally and developmentally challenged people with opportunities to learned selected lifetime sports and participate in community life learning experiences.
Denise lives in Stamford with her husband Nicola. The courage and strength that her niece Megan has displayed in her battle with JM since the early age of 2½ is Denise's inspiration to find a cure.
